then the two people that dean cares most about in the world will be gone and he will be alone and
I love this scene, ok? You can see that despite his being mad at Cas [not for betraying him (not really), but for leaving him again] Dean can’t bring himself not to care. And he’s angry with himself too: everything would be so much simpler if he could just stab him in the neck and be done with it, but he can’t. So he yells at him like he’s pissed off, but what he actually means when he tells him: Just stay here! is: please, don’t leave. And he doesn’t really know what to do or say; he stammers on the words until he gives in and demands (he needs to make it an order and not another prayer) that Cas takes care of himself, because he can’t help but worry. Still, he doesn’t meet his eyes: he’s conflicted and compromised already, he knows Cas is his Achille’s heel. Perhaps if he doesn’t see on his angel’s face how much he’s hurt by his behaviour, he could go on pretending that he isn’t hurting, too.
