to end up at 3,546,000 viewers for episode three, putting it at #10 on this week’s Cable Top 20 and behind Spongebob by merely 60,000 viewers exact.
While this may seem horrible, keep on mind that even at 3.5 million viewers, Legend of Korra is still doing better than almost every single episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. More importantly, it beats all of Nick’s live action shows. That is what matters.
We are still awesome.
Whatever - that’s still a lot of viewers. And also, it’s early in the morning and people have things to do?
That’s still really good for an animated show.
Still good numbers! Let’s keep it up, fandom! :)
As long as it doesn’t keep dropping significantly, it’s fine.
Be the Leaf Amon
Here’s something disturbing/interesting I’ve noticed:
Compare how much Amon’s (and the chi benders’) evasive moves match with airbending moves.
I am not saying that he’s an airbender, but what if he had been an air acolyte? They are all non-benders as far as I know. And that Tenzin knows him and might have taught him.
Fun fact: Stalin got kicked out of Georgian Orthodox seminary, he also had scars on his face from small-pox
I actually do think Amon was an air acolyte at one point — it ties back into that eye shift of Tenzin’s when he was talking to Korra at the end of the episode.
Tenzin definitely knows something. Every movement is exactly as it seems in animation.
Energybending - A Comparison
While the Lionturtle and Aang use the same technique, Amon seems to be using another method.
When Aang takes away Ozai’s bending, and when the Lionturtle teaches Aang energybending, they both thouch TWO points on the body, the yin tang and the ru zhong point aka the Ajna chakra and the Anahata chakra.
When Amon ‘takes away’ LBZ’s bending, he only touches ONE point, the yin tang.
Now what could that mean?
I think Amon is faking it. That he is making people believe that he is taking away their bending, when what he is actually doing is blocking a chakra.
Here is why:
Amon touches the yin tang point aka the Ajna chakra:Location: Midway between the medial ends of the eyebrows Actions& Effects:
- Calms the spirit - insomnia, anxiety, stress.
- Frontal headache.
- Sinus issues - congestion, sinusitis.
When Uncle is teaching Zuko about lightning, he talks about bending needing a certain amount of inner calm. So, if you were to close that chakra and lock all the anxiety inside someone, making them incapable of being calm, that would effectively take someone’s bending away.
Quite clever actually, since the more terrified they are/become the more permanent this block will be. And Amon is sure laying it on thick.

I’d also like to note that he touches the back of his neck too. It’s really split second but he does.
Now if we look here….
This is one of the better well put together theories of LOK looking at the facts and what the creators were doing (I see what you did there)
It’s looks like from the episode Amon was draining the fireBender triad of his bending then blocking the Chakra and would have to be unblocked by the avatar. Though I kind of like the theory that Amon is a part of the Avatar. Since Aang did die in the Avatar state and the spiritual side was cut off it could mean that Korra is the fighting side of the Avatar and Amon is the spiritual side.
Note I like to go over theories but what ever the creators did with the story line is just going to happen. Though I am just peeved over the shipping wars and the fan theories about who’s parents are Mako’s and Bolins and all that dumb stuff. Really guys do we have to get into this can’t we just watch the series enjoy it and be big enough fans that we get a season 2 of Korra because that would awesome
This is so good…it has to be right.
One of my favorite scenes from ep3 X’D I’m hopeless
I had this massive urge to just sit on his lap.
I know I’m not the only one.
….. //blushes a bit wanting to sit on his lap too.
If you call blanketing myself over him “sitting” then yeah
